If we are going that far, we would like to go south to see penguins too. AEP is a mostly domestic airport, very much in the city.- close to Palermo and Recoleta neighborhoods. Stay there or Monserrat or San Telmo.

The rates we got for our two exchanges were AR$330 and $330 for every GBP. You do need to have your passport to collect at WU though. This was in excess slightly of what rate shown for the blue dollar on bluedollar.net (not sure how accurate that is but seen a few recommend checking there before going to exchange).

Many people, like the world over, like to drink bottled water due to some chlorine taste from tap water, but the water is perfectly safe. Sadly, the one big problem is weight gain.I think most people at this forum will disagree, but I think ten days is enough to visit both cities. I'd allow more days to Buenos Aires than Santiago. Buenos Aires is a bigger city, with a lots of cultural life and very interesting museums. The withdrawal limits, fees, and exchange rates combine to make it not the best option, unless it is the only one. Bring some USD if you can-$100 or $50 bills and exchange cash.

Did the Bariloche to BA route by LAN, good airline but expensive. The buses were handy, but would only recommend people to fly if the flight is direct. Example, flights from Mendoza, or Salta to Bariloche goes via Buenos Aires.
