Test light is helpful here. You can bypass all the fun first and check the red wire at the white connector for power. No power bad wire/fuse. Power and the fuse in the controller itself is blown. I go out and check the connections, and can hear a "chattering" behind the grill. Eventually the light stops blinking and the plow will start working again. The noise behind the grill has me baffled.

Also check the light harness connection at the plow. The iirc 9 or 11 pin connector you plug from the truck to the plow. If that one is not plugged in/losing connection you will get the same symptoms as you are describing. Maybe a loose terminal or its getting wet. Use some di-electric grease on those connectors.
