No, on one of my fav. servers settings. They have LCBs or key blocks drop function if you don't login for 10 real life days. So you run into old bases occasionally. You can break into the base since blocks aren't protected now. The current lockpick mechanic is just.. bad. It's not engaging or fun at all. click-break-click-break-click-break is awful design, and happens way too often even with the lockpicking perk maxed out. Something more interactive, a-la Fallout and Elder Scrolls might actually be FUN.
The method to open the safe does not affect the loot. I either lock pick or auger, depending on safe difficulty / availability of lock picks. I always Auger the small safes. I usually pick the 7.5k and 10k safes, but often the auger would have been faster. I do absolutely hate the auger sound on safes. 1.
