Blinking "D" in drive indicator. Yesterday driving down the highway during lunch I noticed my green "D" was blinking. The truck was driving okay. After work on the way home, last night, and again on the way to work this morning everything was normal. At lunch today the light showing that the truck was in drive and not neutral was blinking again.
It accelerated for maybe 20 seconds (going past 5mph) before I could feel like a small jerk (like as if my car just went into neutral) and my drive light (the "D" on the dashboard) starts blinking. I can't accelerate at all and basically now I'm just coasting along. I checked the fluid and it looked okay and didn't smell burnt.

That cleared the flashing "D". And has not come back. Did a little research and it seems that it could also have been one of the three solenoids on the transmission. Great advice here. Drain and fill with Honda tranny fluid. Cheapest thing. If that doesn't clear it then check the tranny for the solenoids. The flashing D light means an intermitent failure in the transmission. When this happens the light will flash until the engine is shut off. If it was intermitent the flashing doesn't come back the failure was intermitent. However this shouldn't lock the gearshift out of the forward gears. That is probably a failure in the shift mechanism.
