I couldn't be happier with the one- but the second was pretty disappointing. It took a lot of work to find a load that it would shoot good and it collected copper like no other barrel I've ever seen.

Re: Lilja vs. Shilen. Follow this link to the 2009 national championship Equipment list. There's alot more Shilens than Lilja's in the top 20. I have both and they both shoot great. Keep in mind BR cycles through equipment and next year most likely there will be a different barrel on top. The BR guys are always looking for an edge.I run Proof carbon barrels on a couple of my hunting rifles. One a 6 creed and the other a 6.5x284. They both shoot .25 moa. I have a couple hunters in 6 and 6.5 creed with Bartlien barrels as well. These rifles are shooters as well shooting sub .5 with factory Hornady ammunition in the 6.5 from Hornady and Copper Creek in the 6 creedmoor.Neither of those were nearly as accurate/consistent as the .920" Shilen. I've heard that Shilen .920" barrels have a tighter chamber than their sporter contour barrels, but I'm not certain about that. Less than half inch groups easy at 50 yds, using good SV ammo. At my age & eyes,I don't shoot as well as I use to. I think a younger fellow would have the ragged hole thing going on!

Don't forget to pay attention to the chamber. I agree that you should start with good barrel, but the chamber is equally as important. I bought a 10/22 Shilen barrel a couple of years ago and the chamber was long. You could drop a round in the chamber and the bullet wouldn't engrave the rifleing lands. IMO, Shilen are the most overrated barrel makers on the market right now. All 3 of the barrels I have are not much better to a factory barrel as far as I'm concerned. They also did a poor job lapping them which means they foul pretty bad.
