The manual says 10W 30, but I wanted to know if anyone was using straight weight oil or heavier oil to keep the older engine happy. I don't work my tractor to death, basically mowing 5/8thacre and some plowing/snowblowing in the winter.The heavier-duty oil makes me feel better is all. Kohler recommends 10w30, they don't require it. 40wts are an ideal oil IMO for old K-series and the lesser built Courage engines.
