Duramax ticking noise.

Sounds like it coming from oil filter location. it does not do it all the time, just kinda comes and goes. I used 10 qts of Rotella T and a ACDelco filter. While picking up my camper, I hear the infamous ticking noise. One year ago, I had the water pump replaced due to a service bulletin. I thought it was the water pump starting to fail again.I have a knocking noise upon deceleration on my 2017 duramax Silverado.. It happens between 1600-1100 rpm. As I decelerate between this range, it will start to knock at around 1600 then go away at around 1500 then start again around 1400 and stop at around 1200 and a third time at 1100. It sounds like a lifter smacking the camshaft.

Pop-off pressures are (don't quote me on this) around 1300-1700lbs. for most diesel engines IIRC, so they can get a little noisy, especially when it's cold out.

Oct 11, 2015 · Weird ticking noise on 2015. It only happens while the truck is running and it's coming from the engine clearly herd from the wheel wells. No its not hurting it. You can try & find another oil brand thatll maybe reduce the tick noise, or you just live with it. I use Rotella T in my LMM & Mobil Delvac Super in the LML.
