Maverick 88 vs remington 870.

Jul 17, 2006 · If you are familiar with the gun the safety location will come second nature. I have never got by thumb hung under the shell lifter either. Both Remington and Mossberg are fine pieces. Either one will serve you well. I just prefer the 870 over the 500 series Mossberg, and I like the M37 Ithaca better than the 870.

Maverick 88 vs remington 870. Things To Know About Maverick 88 vs remington 870.

Go to the 590, there are several differences, like a metal trigger guard and safety, thicker barrel, different barrel mounting system, and a steel receiver, just to name a few. all 3 have the 3 inch chamber. 835, you can go to 3.5 inch shells. Now, if you want a modular platform, go with the 500, with the FLEX system.21932 posts · Joined 2007. #1 · Dec 16, 2015 (Edited) Recently picked up a Maverick 88. In the past I had a Mossberg 500 and Remington 870 but traded them for other things. Want to keep this one pretty simple. As of right now it's 100% stock with the 18.5" barrel. Thinking it might make sense to have a light on it and some extra shells. Most 870 aftermarket parts will work on it (the mag ext. tube needs some work though and 870 barrels won't pop right in). I own a Maverick 88 and it's very close (practically identical) to a mossy 500 (and can use the same accessories). Dependable, just like a 500 minus the 500 style saftyt which I'm fine with. Below is what I did with a ...The Maverick 88 is a pump action, 12 gauge shotgun with a six shot capacity. It's pretty much the Mossberg 500's little brother and it's just as powerful. The shotgun is corrosion resistant chrome plated with an ambidextrous safety. The receiver is connected to an ATI shotforce folding stock that reduces the overall length. The Mossberg has it correct, the Remington does not. Mossberg makes an incredible shotgun. Mossberg 590a1 is used by the us military. That should tell you how trustworthy and durable they are. I love my custom 870 but the Mossberg 590A1 is just the better quality shotgun. The Mossberg won't rust, the Rustington will.

Essentially yes they will. I had a Pardner Protector, I put a side saddle, hogue over molded stock, 2rnd extension, and sight rail all made and listed for an 870. Had no issues with fitment a all. As far as the Mav 88 goes, nearly the same in respect to the H&R / 870 scenario. Almost all parts for a Mossberg 500 will fit.

Mos 590a1 ~ $500 (loaded up) My heart lusts for the 590a1 ( this one specifically), but my head tells me it isn't worth 2.5 times the cost of the Maverick for home defense use and blasting in the back yard.If your only choices are the Maverick 88 or the H&R Pardner Pump then I would say get the Maverick 88. If you are willing to spend just a little bit more then look at a new Remington 870 Express. For about the same money as a new 870 Express you should be able to find a used 870 Wingmaster. I mean, yea...the 870 has the smoother, tighter action. But the 590's controls are objectively better than the 870's. You don't have to remove your hand from firing position to toggle the safety or the slide release on a 590. You do on an 870. Also, the shell carrier on the 870 pinches fingers and sometimes leads to misfeeds. To change forearm handles on an 88 requires purchasing the separate 500 action tube/action arms piece AND the new forearm handle. So for me as well, the 500 wins in this regard. But as an economical choice, if you're going to stick with the factory forearm handle and you prefer the trigger-guard mounted safety button, then the 88 is a good choice.Re: Combo: ¿Remington 870 o Maverick 88? por Angel Tito » Sab Dic 27, 2014 3:29 pm.
