In the past I had a Mossberg 500 and Remington 870 but traded them for other things. Want to keep this one pretty simple. As of right now it's 100% stock with the 18.5" barrel. Thinking it might make sense to have a light on it and some extra shells.Most 870 aftermarket parts will work on it (the mag ext. tube needs some work though and 870 barrels won't pop right in). I would say that either gun will do the trick.. The 835 and the 88 are both mossy. Im inclined to say that you probably should just get the 88 ...

So for me as well, the 500 wins in this regard.
