Hi everyone, question for the M14 crowd. I just picked up a new James River Armory (JRA) civilian M14. It's gorgeous, but when I try to "rock and lock" the factory Checkmate Industries 20 rounder in — it doesn't go in nice. I actually have slam it HARD with the palm of my hand, using about 80 foot pounds of man-force.That being said, I have a regular JRA M14 and I wouldn't trade it for one of the welded ones. I think the real M14 heal is cool for a collector, but as a shooter I like the solid, one piece forging of my receiver. I have no data on the welded M14 receivers, so they may prove to be just as reliable as mine. I just prefer to eliminate variables.Oct 18, 2020 · Not all Rock-Ola receivers are stamped M14. A very small number were stamped PRM -1. I was informed this stood for PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF MARYLAND. Not being stamped M14 made them legal in Maryland as well as New Jersey.
