Even when you attend let's say Iowa or even the Ohio school where living expenses are lower. Let's say $40-50K for undergrad, $35-40K per year for podiatry tuition, plus 15-20K for living expenses. I understand that people on sdn can often be more pessimistic, but it seems like the vast majority of people consider podiatry a poor career choice for numerous reasons. With having good enough stats to go into DO/MD school, these forums make me reconsider my choice of podiatry school. Podiatry isn't brain surgery and we can all do HTs, bunions, limb salvage. Sure we don't all do RF/trauma stuff, but most orthos don't do rotationplasties and many don't even do like, knee replacements. Some plastic surgeons only do breast augs. Most of the programs I externed at are in the list, and my opinion varies widely on the strength of the programs listed that I visited. Times change and residents/residencies change.
