It allowed a more realistic test of trading strategies, especially day trading strategies. Fully automated real trading , using a real account and 1-minute granularity real-time feed. It wasn't perfect, but it was a great tool, and definitely better than NOTHING, which is what Fidelity currently has to offer in this realm.
Apparently TDA API users won't be in the first wave of migration. I don't know if that means API users will be last, as the migration is planned to take until November to complete.
