Estoc's range and moveset have always been unbalanced in a turtle's hands. Even in 3, where we are now, Havestoc Turtle remains at large. Thankfully I am not the kind of absolute cancerbaby to turtle with havels on and use Bestoc.

You're fine, and it sounds like you've got a solid plan going, you just unwittingly picked two of the three weapons people on the forums hate the most (Estoc/Bestoc, Dark Sword/Irithyll Sword, pretty much any katana) #8. Bloodborne combat, fastest weapons win, and Estoc is the fastest. Bonfires normally only give 5. A few bonfires are sort of 'pre-kindled' because they have a Firekeeper powering them. Those give 10. To get 10 from a normal bonfire, you have to spend the humanity to Kindle it. If you beat Pinwheel, you get the Rite of Kindling. That lets you Kindle the same bonfire multiple times to reach 15 or 20 charges. The only Estoc that is D/D is the one in Dark Souls 3, and that's only when it is completely unupgraded. One upgrade level changes it to D/C. The Estoc in DS2 starts at C/D and ends at +10 as B/D. I use a hex mage so I already set him up with a dark estoc. :) The rapier only needs 5str 12dex, where the estoc requires 12/12, but yh it wasn't really a serious suggestion as it all depends on preference, if you don't like the parry on R2 the rapier is no good tbh.

The extra range on Estoc can be really nice for spacing compared to Rapier. Also, the Estoc I believe has shield splitter, great for damaging through the shield of your opponent. The crits wont be as good, but I think thats okay, you dont go either of these weapons specifically for crit playstyle. 6. Reply.

Ricards R2 is cool, but you can only use it against some slowmoving enemies. Estoc has a wicked R2 slash, and some nice long range pokes twohanded.
