Duramax ticking noise.

New to the forum and new to Diesels! I just bought my first Diesel and its an 04 LB7 with 156k on it. Truck needs some work but thats not the issue.. While test driving I noticed a ticking sound from 1100 rpm till short of 3000rpm. Some people do find different brand oil seems to quieten the noise some but experimentation is key for some because not all oils act the same in all engines..

2020 Duramax thumping sound. Thumping sound heard at idle and increases with RPM as you drive. Can hear it easily when standing outside front or when listening near front wheel wells and from inside the truck.
