Hello! I just wanted to come on here and share a scam I just encountered. I don't know if this has been posted by other users but I really would like to warn shoppers as I almost gave out my number. I accepted an Instacart order and they messaged me right away. They wanted me to contact their wife to add on an item - using my personal number.

It definitely giving scammer vibes. They were just trying to pay less and add items they probably couldnt afford. 🙄 When customers do that, I tell the customer I'm unable to deliver to the new address because of the app delivery process and I cancel the order.

This issue is still pending, and the agents I try to talk to through the "sign-up-as-an-instacart shopper-as-a-first-timer-page" are having a hard time believing anything I say. Instacart rolled out Cart Star about 2 yrs ago which is basically a scam to make shoppers take undesirable orders with the promise of priority access. It's pretty much a race to the bottom at this point.The Shopper only sees the total tip before accepting a batch—they see the individual tips after delivery. So Instacart might be taking advantage of the fact that you tip, because they have to end up paying Shoppers more for no tip orders. The longer a "batch" (or order) goes unclaimed, the more Instacart has to offer Shoppers to accept it.Well there's one strange thing about this scam this time that's different than the others.
