Re: 4l80E - How much can it handle? Yes it can handle quite a bit. My truck makes 320 whp/500 wtq, weighs 3780 lbs with me in it and ran 11's. Blake 80e with a shift kit and good clutches only. That being said, if you are not goin to do alot of highway cruising the t400 would be cheaper and just as strong.

That will help the stock bottom end live longer. A real good tune will keep it out of detonation and that should help the pistons live longer. I would wager most of us here (>51%) use the higher HP between 2500 - 6000 RPM. That makes the car a LOT more fun to drive while easing (not much) the strain on the bottom end.
